UBCF will be giving away 160 queen
size mattresses to male and female breast cancer patients and survivors in Louisville, KY.
An application can be completed online and must be submitted and approved in order to attend and receive
People are welcome to apply from anywhere in the United States, however, approved applicants are responsible for picking up items on the day of the event.
This is a free family-friendly event, held along the banks of the Ohio River at Captain’s Quarters. It will feature Wine & Beer Sampling, face painting, Chili Sampling, Bounce Houses, Balloon Artist, Live Music and of course Pumpkin Chunkin.
Money is raised from our sponsors but also by guests buying a pumpkin for $10, that they write a personal message on or decorate, it is then placed in a trebuchet and launched into the river aimed at floating targets! If their pumpkin hits a target, they will receive a $15 Gift Certificate to CQ.
Captain’s Quarters will also donate 15% of all restaurant sales from the day to the cause.
The inaugural Robert L. Delaby Scholarship Award will send one person annually to the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) meeting in Chicago, Illinois.
This is a space to learn more about the realities of metastatic breast cancer and the impact Twisted Pink is having on research. Our Founder, Caroline Johnson, will also blog about her experience as a caregiver to her son who was born with a rare genetic condition and Epilepsy, in hopes that these posts will help families and loved ones caring for people facing metatsatic breast cancer.
